ATV Rollover

ATV Rollover

This animation depicts a fatal accident whereby an ATV lost traction at the top of a hill and then tipped over, rolling back down the trail. The ATV had a large, high-rise accessory seat that was mounted to the back of the unit (not shown) that contributed to the instability of the ATV as it began losing traction near the crest of the hill. The operator nudged the throttle, which caused the ATV nose to kick up, resulting in the ATV slipping and rotating clockwise. Repeated efforts by the operator to move forward caused the ATV to further rotate, ultimately becoming unstable and rolling over.
